Celebrating Christmas in the South (or anywhere else?) this year? Jekyll Island transforms into "Holly Jolly Jekyll" through January 1st, and is a great place families to spread the Christmas Spirit.
Bring the kids, and your best camera, cause you never know when the perfect holiday photo op will present itself.
Christmas Tree Lighting -
Holly Jolly Jekyll kicks off in November with month long festivities. The Christmas Tree Lighting starts November, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This is just the first of many fun events happening on the island during the holidays.
The festival orbits around the Historic Center. Families
can enjoy holiday stage performances, a giant snow slide, arts and crafts vendors, games
and activities for children. AND...eat dinner on the Main Lawn. Yum!
Have your picture taken with Santa, and participate in holiday shopping sprees, delicious hot chocolate and savory Christmas treats.
And don't forget to visit Santa at Mistletoe Cottage. Be there, too, when Santa lights the Jekyll Island Christmas Tree.
The fun starts at 4:30 PM and continues until the lighting of the Christmas tree and fireworks finale at 7:30 PM. Admission to the festival is free, although some activities may require a small fee. It's a perfect sendoff for Christmas in the South.
