Santas Workshop on Jekyll Island is Santa's Christmas Shoppe, the Perfect Stop for that Unique Christmas Gift

If you have the Christmas spirit, you'll enjoy a visit to Santas workshop on Jekyll Island - Santa's Christmas Shoppe.

Our family loves Christmas. Not only for what it stands for, but for the great family times that, over the years, have become traditions.

My boys and I have always gone out to cut a real tree, either from the woods or from a tree farm. We have a wonderful time together (like most families, I'm sure) putting up the tree, decorating it, and wrapping presents. Martha serves uphome-made cookies fresh from the oven. A spicy scent of cinnamon and cloves permeates the air from a pot of Wassail simmering on the stove.

I have yet to entice Martha into entering Santa's Christmas Shoppe in the "off-season", however - even though it's a wonderful - almost magical - taste of Christmas all year round.

"I just can't get into Christmas in the summer," my loving wife says.

I sort of feel that way, too. But I'm the kind of guy who likes to poke my nose into nooks and crannies and out-of-the-way places, including eccentric shops that celebrate Christmas throughout the year.

You can find lots of unique bargains that way.

Jekyll Island resort is a Georgia tourism destination of excellence. You'll find Santa's Christmas Shoppe in the Millionaire's Village area. Santas Workshop, Santas Christmas Shoppe It used to be in the historic Power Plant building, but when the powers-that-be decided to renovate that building for the new home of the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, Santas workshop on Jekyll Island had to move. It now shares a building with the Island House, but is still owned by the same 3 Southern ladies who've owned it for 25 years - Mary Bishop, Martha Ellis and Marie Stubbs.

Susan Sullivan, the manager of Santa's Christmas Shoppe, is enthusiastic about the shop's extensive Christmas-themed wares. Along with a wide range of fine gifts, holiday decorations and name-brand collectibles, Susan explained that Santa's Christmas Shoppe offers visitors gift choices ranging from Christopher Radko, Byers Choice Carolers, Fontanini Nativities, Possible Dreams, Clothique, and Polynaise, plus a wonderful eclectic selection of Christmas ornaments.

"Byers Choice is a line of dolls representing Christmas carolers in a variety of costumes and positions," Susan said. "We also have Possible Dreams Clothique Santa's (both Mr. andMrs. Santa). And the Fontanini Nativities offer a selection of nativity scenes. These are all collectibles, and make wonderful gifts."

Santa's Christmas Shoppe is a great place for a little off-season Christmas shopping. Or come sometime in December, when Jekyll Island transforms into Holiday Island in celebration of the season.
